Encounter on a Train

On my way to Rockingham meeting, I met a woman on the train who attend West Point.  I communicated the fact I was a conscientious objector and, much to my surprise, she affirmed that her interest in religious pacifism.  As a matter of fact, she asserted that friends of hers were working to release her from further military activity.

I reminded this fine lady that she needed to prepare a statement elucidating her commitment to nonviolent solutions to the sin of violence.  We agreed that Jesus motivates us to be peacemakers who seek reconciliation in the Lord.

Yes, God provides opportunities for witnessing to Truth.  And he prepared me for this wonderful encounter where His spirit prevailed.  Hopefully her friends will contact an anti-military counselor who would be able to afford the opportunity for her to live in grace that overcomes violence.  Let us be thankful for the Lord’s presence.
