Christ and Scripture |

In one of Fox's last epistles, he writes with accuracy and compassion "and he that reads the scriptures of truth, and understands them, he must have Christ Jesus in him. . ." In other words, Jesus supplies us with the power to understand the meaning of the sacred writings. It is through Christ, we understand that God liberated the Hebrew people from Egyptian oppression. But Christ delineates that the covenant people rebelled against God's authority and, as a result, did not reach the promised land. But when Christ guided His people to the upper room, His people were able to listen and obey like Stephen did. Christ's spirit enables us to understand Stephen's declaration to his oppressors. Christ certainly opened the Biblical Truths for George Fox and his contemporaries. May He do the same for us needy people.
