Answering the Spirit of God in Others

Fox and John Wilbur proclaimed in the Spirit of Christ that our good Lord gives His people the love and power to recognize and respond to the working of God in other humans.  Yes, God affords us the inward peace that overcomes our propensity to commit violence.  God affords us the ability to receive His enduring grace.  God affords us the power to love each other in true fellowship.

Because God provides us inwardly with divine love that includes power to discern His will, early Friends in their devotion to our loving Father discerned that we do have the ability to recognize God's visitation in others as well as ourselves.  Small wonder when
our good Lord plants the seed in others in our fellowship, He enables His people to recognize God's people in others.  Then, my friends, we can respond in Jesus' love, to the working of God in our fellowship.

Yet even though God strives to visit all people, we cannot assume that humans would welcome divine intervention in their lives.  As a matter of fact, because some humans, and this is unfortunate, reside in Satan's domain, it is difficult, if not impossible for them to discern the love and power of Christ Jesus.  That is why when Friends utilize the phrase "that of God" in all people, they do not understand the relationship between God and humans. In other words, we need to wait on the Lord to receive His love, His grace as well as His guidance.

And when we receive His grace, God infuses us with the ability to recognize His light revealed in our brothers and sisters.  Then we can praise God for sending His love into our people.

As a result Christ gives Christians the calling to witness in propagating the need for all of us to live in His Kingdom.  In that way, we testify to God's enduring love, but only in the power of God over all. Friends we need to pray for the ability to affirm God's love in our fellowship.
